Position: Quality Control Lead

Reports to: Assistant QA Manager

Gulf Pacific operates at three locations, one in Texas and two in Arkansas. Gulf Pacific is growing rapidly with approx. $325 million in gross revenues for 2023.

Job Summary:



Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) throughout the plant. Possess the ability to ensure rice quality is maintained during all aspects of production. Interact closely with receiving, shipping, milling, and packaging departments. Work with a team mentality to ensure product is produced with high quality standards during the entire process.



Responsibilities:

• Check mill and packaging bin inventory.

• Sample and grade rice from finished product as well as mill according to specified timeframes.

• Ensure correct packaging material is used for production.

• Check finished product for code, date, weight, seal, bag alignment, proper product used, generate labels and placards that coincide with the order being produced and document on appropriate form.

• Check magnets and rejects daily.

• Work closely with millers and packaging departments to guarantee quality product.

• Observe surroundings for non GMP food safety concerns.

• Assuring all packaged product meet customer specifications and Gulf Pacific Rice Co. quality standards by verifying packaging, date code information, rice grades and trailer inspections (rice flour).

• Determining rice blends to meet USDA grades and customer requirements.

• Scheduling, training and overseeing duties of  Quality Control Technicians.

• Scheduling and coordinating USDA – FGIS inspector’s hours with production.

• Assist in maintaining a functional HACCP(Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) program, verifying grade sheets, magnet logs and sanitation records.

• Conducting weekly food safety audits and follow-ups to maintain plant compliance.

• Enforcing GMP’s(Good Manufacturing Practices) in all areas of production.

• Performing Gluten / Allergen testing as needed.

• Controlling product Hold/Release procedures and product re-processing.

• Assist in preparing Sales samples ensuring they are of high-quality standards.

• Report inventory needs as needed to management.
• And other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Can read, speak, and write in English (bilingual a plus)

• Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

• Good to excellent communication skills

• Works well with others

General

• Walking and standing

• Climb up to 50 feet or more.
