Prebiotics are natural constituents of food that include non-digestible carbohydrates. Prebiotics are fiber compounds that are not digestible by humans, but act as food for probiotics, the friendly microorganisms naturally residing in the human gastrointestinal tract that are associated with better health and reduced disease risk.

When properly cooked and allowed to cool, the prebiotics in our rice and bean products go through a chemical change that allows them to pass through the acid in the human stomach unharmed. They are then able to be processed by the natural probiotics in the human gastrointestinal system providing many health benefits.

To receive the most benefits of prebiotic food, it is recommended that food is thoroughly cooked and cooled before consumption.
